Biography

Crystal Anulao

Inspired by the love, strength, and support of my mother and the courage, fearlessness, and desire to find happiness from my father I began my journey. I am blessed with honest parents who shared life with us. Who showed us how to be diligent in our duties, faithful in our beliefs, yet always stand for what is just.

As a child I found myself amazed by the human body. Conscious of the impact we make on others and our environment. When I saw someone uncomfortable or in pain I wanted to help. This thought process was what started my journey in healing arts. I would read anything I could find about natural healing, health and fitness, and human anatomy and physiology.

In 1996 I began college and pursued an Associate Arts Degree with a focus in psychology and religion. As I did an intern study with a psychologist who also practiced massage and bodywork I realized my path would change.

In 2001 I began at Miller-Motte College in Wilmington, NC and received my associate science degree in Massage Therapy in 2003. I continued to work there as an administrative assistant and teacher's assistant after graduating, as well as a massage therapist.

I met a wonderful lady during my time there at Miller-Motte and because of my love for birth and natural health she encouraged me to talk with Ann Tumblin of DONA about Doula Training . In 2001 I completed that training and began volunteering with Operation Special Delivery for military families. I have since enjoyed being a part of such a sacred experience as pregnancy and birth.

In 2004 I journeyed to step out into massage as my full-time career at Ki Spa and Salon and began further education in Chinese Medicine at Jung Tao School of Chinese Medicine. I recognized that healing is not segmented by parts. It is a whole body experience, physical, emotional, and mental. Whether it is birth, life, or death it is done with our whole being and each has its season. After a year I left school to experience life with the arrival of my daughter.

In 2006 I received certification as a Yoga Instructor from Wilmington Yoga Center. I have since enjoyed being able to integrate my love for human anatomy, movement, and breath to inspire relaxation and healing in others.

In 2011 I trained with Placenta Benefits and joined Brenda Ojala at Placenta Works in 2012 doing placenta encapsulation services. It has been a great pleasure to serve so many beautiful families.

In 2018 I completed my Master's Diploma in Chinese Medicine from Jung Tao Classical Chinese Medicine School. Incorporating this ancient wisdom into my practice allows me to have a more indepth view point to inspire health.
